GLT’s Youth Company (GLT-YC) is celebrating its fourteenth highly successful year of operation! It is open to and run by youth aged 10 to 18, mentored by experienced GLT adult members. Many people tell us it’s the most fun their kids have ever had! And audiences are often amazed at the high quality, polished shows these talented young people perform.

All meetings and  performances are held at the GLT Studio.Workshops held most Saturdays from Fall, through Spring and cover all aspects of theatre and the actor’s craft. Past workshops have included: Voice; Movement; Makeup; Lighting; Prop Making and the always fun, Stage Combat. Developing leadership and discipline, teamwork and friendship, and most of all, fun, are also part of the program.

Youth Company membership for the season is $20.00. The GLT makes every effort to ensure a positive and safe environment for Youth Company members. If you are interested in joining the  Youth Company, please call the Studio at 905-877-3422 and leave a message.

Each fall the Youth Company presents the “Y1A’s” a collection of one-act plays, selected, produced, directed and acted by them. Auditions are usually held in September, with performances in November. This year’s Y1A’s performance dates are November 23, 24 and 25, 2017.

Each season the Youth Company presents a major show chosen by them and directed by an adult. These large cast productions typically provide new and younger members with their first opportunity to act on stage, while more seasoned youth move up through the ranks to eventually take of lead roles. Other youth members learn more technical theatre skills, such as costumes, stage management, lighting and sound, as they work alongside the adult technical crew.

The Spring Production performances are usually held in late April/early May. The 2016 show was “The Time Traveller’s Leg”, an original script crafted by one of the Youth Company’s now adult
“graduates”, Taylor Grist, who directed the show.

The 2017 production was "The Canterville Ghost" directed by Sam Hancock.  This show incorporated special effects for the ghost to appear and disappear along with old fashioned costuming and special makeup.

The 2018 show will be “Dark of The Moon”, to be directed by Taylor Grist and Jill Pike. The show dates are from May 3 - 6 and 9 - 12 , 2018 with tickets $10. These shows almost always are complete sell outs, so reservations are recommended! Auditions for the Spring Production usually occur in December.
